Between summer and winter: putting the time change to the test
78 percent of respondents are against the time change - Longer days still entice people outdoors - In outdoor catering, two thirds want more acceptance of card payments
Frankfurt am Main, 27.03.2025: The time changeover is an issue that divides opinion every year. One hour less in summer, one hour more in winter. But what is the current mood? According to a study conducted by infas quo on behalf of EURO Kartensysteme GmbH, a full 78% of respondents are against the time change. One reason for this displeasure is that around 35% need two to three days to get used to summer time.
Nevertheless, the longer days are increasingly drawing respondents outside: almost eight out of ten people (77 percent) say they now want to sit outside more often in the evenings, go for a walk or cycle (63 percent) or visit outdoor restaurants (50 percent).

While most respondents from the older generations carry their wallets with them when they go for a walk (56 percent), those under 30 almost always have their smartphones in their pockets (71 percent). It is therefore not surprising that two-thirds (66 percent) would like to be able card by card at outdoor dining venues—whether with the physical card or digitally. Although respondents still like to use cash, girocard to card payments girocard is the top choice for leisurely evenings on a restaurant patio. The digital girocard reliably accompanies consumers through their daily lives and is always with them on their mobile devices, anywhere and anytime.
